New Year, New You with RESTART

Colleen Flynn, NTP, RWS, and owner at Nutritional Zest, LLC, presents RESTART, a 5-week program that aims to teach participants how to cleanse their bodies with real food and mindfulness. The program starts on January 10 and runs weekly on Thursday nights at 6:45pm via a Zoom video call.

“The 5-week RESTART program is a simple, powerful program that gives your body a vacation from having to process toxins like sugar,” Flynn says. “With a 3-week cleanse built right in, the program focuses on how to use real food to boost your energy and cut sugar and carb cravings.”

The program consists of a facilitated weekly Zoom call for support, plus guidance, materials and recipes. Participants can expect to experience weight loss, increased energy, better and more restful sleep, boosted immune system, mental clarity and improved mood and decreased anxiety. A bonus for women may be a reduction in PMS/menopause symptoms.

Colleen Flynn has received certifications from Nutritional Therapy Association, Nutrition Therapy Institute, BioIndividual Nutrition Institute and Restorative Wellness Solutions.

Rethink/ App Helps Austinites Track Green Habits

As part of Climate Change Awareness Month, Austin’s Office of Sustainability challenged the community to reach a carbon reduction goal of 50,000 pounds of CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions—roughly the volume of Barton Springs Pool––within a seven-day period, October 23 through 30. Using the rethink/ app, a social app that encourages teams and friends to compete to earn points, the challenge surpassed its goal for the week and is continuing with monthly challenges.

The app tracks behaviors that contribute to a smaller carbon footprint; behaviors such as turning out lights when leaving a room, recycling, using a water bottle, taking shorter showers or skipping showers, composting, taking alternative transportation and more. Users can see how changing habits adds up towards a lesser carbon footprint overall and their yearly savings in dollars.

The free app is powered by Joulebug and can be downloaded through the Apple App Store and Google Play. For more information, visit Rethink.Joulebug.com/.
