Natural Awakenings Austin

Natural Awakenings Austin Ceases Production

Nov 02, 2020 10:00AM ● By Cat Carrel

Dear Austin friends and loyal readers,

It is with great sadness that I share the news that the sun has set on the Austin edition of Natural Awakenings magazine. For the past 15 years, we have delivered natural health news to the greater Austin area, developing a loyal following of folks who have looked forward to picking up the magazine each month at their local natural food store, coffee shop, or local holistic practitioner. Our last issue was published in October.

No one could have predicted the devastating effect that the pandemic would have on the wellness community, the events and expo community, and all the various supporting communities and businesses who rely on each other for our shared success. Unfortunately, the sustained losses experienced over the last several months have made the decision for us: we cannot continue to publish the print magazine and producing a purely digital magazine isn’t an option.

I would like to thank all the advertisers, past and present, who have supported Natural Awakenings Austin, especially those who have been with us for the long term, some for 10+ years.  We could not have done what we did without you. I would also like to thank our distributors, printer, writers, my fantastic layout designer Michele Rose and the many folks who contributed to the success of the magazine over the years. I would especially like to thank the previous publisher who shared her knowledge and wisdom with me, Shelly Searle, and before her, former publisher Sue Gratter.

Since Natural Awakenings is a franchise, I will not be able to continue to maintain or control the website at www.austinawakenings.com, or the ATXWellness Calendar or the ATX Wellness Directory. Those will all go offline in the next 30-60 days.

The Facebook page will hopefully stay online, administrated by the Natural Awakenings Publishing Corporation (NAPC), as well as our Instagram page.

You can access old issues of the magazine for the next 30-60 days, through the digital archive. If there is any way to keep this archive active, I will make sure that happens for posterity’s sake.

Finally, you don’t have to say goodbye to Natural Awakenings. You can subscribe to keep getting the excellent articles and features produced by our national team at www.naturalawakenings.com. And be sure to like their Facebook page.

Stay safe out there.

Blessings,

Cat Carrel
