Austin Energy EV360 Program Gains Traction

Nov 03, 2019 01:10PM ● By Cat Carrel
A pilot program designed to offer EV drivers a fixed, time-of-use rate has been successful and has ended new enrollment, according to Austin Energy. The program allows unlimited charging for participants during off hours at Plug-In EVerywhere stations around the Austin area as well as at their home charging stations. When utilizing the service during off hours, users tap into clean, 100 percent renewable energy to charge their vehicles.

Off-peak hours are 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and anytime on weekends, and customers’ rates could be as low as $30 per month by accessing the charging stations during those hours.

Participants are required to be an Austin Energy residential electric customer, own or lease a plug-in EV, own a detached home and install a special sub-meter circuit for the charging station.
