Fifth International Day of Yoga returns to Texas State Capitol

The 5th International Day of Yoga (IDoY) will be held at the Texas State Capitol at 5:30 p.m. on June 15th, with the vision to “Keep Austin Yogic”.

For the past 4 years, this family-friendly event has drawn more than 4000 Austinites and local yoga studios and partners, making it the biggest free community yoga movement Austin has seen at one place and time. This year is even bigger with keynote speaker and author Rajshree Patel taking the stage to give the experience of yoga.

This event is presented by The Art of Living Austin and supported by the Consulate of India (Houston), in collaboration with local yoga studios and like-minded organizations. International Day of Yoga provides a unique platform unifying diverse communities in Austin across age, race, color, gender, religion and various schools of yoga.

In a time filled with violence, mass shootings and depression, this year’s theme “The Power of Vital Force: For Mental Health & Wellness” exemplifies this spirit of true value of yoga. The program includes 90 minutes of yoga postures, breathing exercises, peace meditation, live music, yoga dance, yoga talk and more.

Rajshree Patel is an international self-awareness coach, teacher, and speaker. She has taught hundreds of thousands of people in more than 35 countries the power of meditation, mindfulness, breath work and other ancient tools for accessing the innate source of energy, creativity and fulfillment.

Free, RSVP required. Location: 1100 Congress Ave. Organizers encourage participants to wear cool summer clothes, bring a yoga mat and water. For more information, visit

Qi Revolution Returns to Austin in 2019

Qi Revolution will return to Austin on August 24 through 26 at the Austin Convention Center. The last time the event was held in Austin was in 2017.

The three-day event features qigong exercises and food-based healing taught in detail by Qigong Practitioner Jeff Primack and 20 other instructors. Primack, a 20-year Qigong practitioner, healed himself of lifelong asthma and through his workshops has helped others discover the secrets of maximizing their own healing potential.

During the first day, instructors teach guests level one qigong healing and breathing applications and move into even more powerful breathing applications on days two and three.

Qi Revolution is the largest qigong event in North America and has been praised by experts of yoga and naturopathic medicine. Experiencing ourselves as pure energy for even one minute is the ultimate “reset button” to relieve stress and improve focus. 9-Breath Method, a signature technique taught to over 50,000 live people at Qi Revolution, allows for this transformation. Oxygen retention and pulsation of breath is the secret of the masters and few courses offer this level of comprehensive instruction.

Cost: $199 for all three days, advance registration required. Location: 500 E Cesar Chavez St #4th, Austin. For more information, call 800-298-8970 or visit
