Amp It Up for Local Nonprofits

Mar 02, 2016 03:31PM

I Live Here, I Give Here (ILHIGH) will launch its fourth annual Amplify Austin fundraising drive designed to increase philanthropy in Central Texas through online giving for hundreds of Central Texas nonprofits during a 24-hour period. Amplify Austin will run from 6 p.m. on March 8 until 6 p.m., March 9.

On giving day, the community will have 24 hours to donate as much as possible to participating Central Texas nonprofits. Amplify Austin will then use funds provided through various sponsorships to proportionally match the amount raised by each nonprofit. Additionally, four grand prizes ($5,000 each) and 48 hourly prizes ($1,000 each) will be awarded. Grand prizes will be given to nonprofits for the most funds raised before midnight, the most funds raised by a large nonprofit in 24 hours, the most funds raised by a small nonprofit in 24 hours and the most volunteer fundraisers. Hourly prizes will also be given for the most funds raised per hour, as well as the most donors per hour.

Following the overwhelming success of last year’s event, which raised $7.7 million, Amplify Austin has “amped” up its goal, aiming to raise $9 million for more than 600 nonprofits in seven Central Texas counties. Lead sponsors of the fourth annual Amplify Austin event include St. David’s Foundation—which donated $1 million to the initiative—as well as University Federal Credit Union, Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Heritage Title Company. Sponsorships provide funds for all 600 participating organizations, as well as help to underwrite the costs of producing the Amplify Austin event.
