Austin’s Day to Rally for the Earth—Celebrating and Uniting our Diversity of Austin Culture, is the theme for this year’s Austin Earth Day Festival, to be held from noon to 6 p.m., April 26, at the historic Browning Hangar at Mueller.

To celebrate Austin’s cultural diversity, t he day features a Bollywood performance, African drumming, Flamenco dancers, influential lawmakers, expert environmental speakers and an array of vendors and exhibitors. Other highlights include live music, a 3-D art mural using recycled materials, face painting in the Kids’ Zone, local magicians, food and electronics recycling.

Speakers include Austin City Council members Laura Morrison and Kathie Tovo; Bob Gedert, director of Austin Resource Recovery Department; Jim Walker, director of sustainability at University of Texas at Austin; and Pliny Fisk, co-director of the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems.

Presentations cover topics such as Take the Dive into the Dumpster: Home Sustainable Living Lab, with Professor Dumpster; Austin’s Zero Waste Future, with Austin Zero Waste Alliance; Natural Building: Playing in the Mud and other Strategies for Building a Beautiful Future, with Design Build Live; and Taking Care of (Green) Business, with a panel of Austin Green Business Leaders.
