Finding Peace, Face to Face
White Tantric Yoga, a one-day meditation workshop facilitated in 37 cities around the world, is coming to the Omni Hotel Downtown Austin on February 1, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
White Tantric Yoga enables participants to break through subconscious blocks so that they can have a more enjoyable life. In the shortest time, they can experience release from a lot of the burden they carry in their minds. It is done in pairs as a group meditation. Participants sit facing a partner and follow instructions for meditation given on a video by Yogi Bhajan, whose authority to be the Mahan Tantric, master of White Tantric Yoga, was bestowed upon him in 1970. Although Bhajan has passed away, a representative of the Mahan Tantric will be present to facilitate the meditation.
The workshop consists of six to eight meditations lasting up to 62 minutes, called kriyas, which incorporate a yoga posture (asana), a hand position (mudra), a breathing technique (pranayama), a mental focus and a mantra. Sometimes the kriyas are accompanied by music. There are breaks between each kriya. The environment is peaceful, and the atmosphere is friendly, supportive and uplifting. A vegetarian lunch is provided.
Cost: $175 per person before Jan. 17 and $185 thereafter; discounts available for full-time students and seniors (65 or older). For more information or to register, call 901-652-9671, email [email protected] or visit WhiteTantricTexas.com.
